Roof Cleaning, Moss Removal and Repair in Cork
Green or black patches on a roof are usually moss and algae, not a sign the roof needs replacing. Rebel Exterior Care cleans moss and lichen off roofs across Cork, seals the tiles to slow it coming back, and repairs slipped slates, ridge tiles, flashing and lead work where needed.

What's included
- Moss, algae and lichen removal
- Roof sealing and protective coating
- Slipped and cracked slate repair
- Ridge tiles rebedded and repointed

How it works
- 1
Ring us or book online
Tell us what you have noticed. You do not need to know what it is called, just describe it.
- 2
We check the whole roof
Not just the bit you rang about. We look at moss, tiles, the ridge, flashing and the areas around chimneys and extensions.
- 3
Photos and a fixed price the same day
You get photos of anything we find sent to your phone, and one fixed price in writing before anything starts.
What it costs
We do not guess a price over the phone. A roof that needs a light clean costs a lot less than one that also needs slates replaced or a ridge rebedded, so we look first.
What actually changes the price is the size of the roof, how steep and how high it is, how much moss has built up, and how many repairs are needed alongside the clean.
What changes the price
- Roof size and pitch
- Height and access, including whether scaffolding is needed
- How much moss and algae has built up
- Number of repairs needed alongside the clean
- Slate roofs and concrete tile roofs are priced differently
Questions people ask
- Will roof cleaning damage my roof or loosen the tiles?
- No, not when it is done properly. We do not stand a pressure washer close to the tiles and blast away, that strips the surface and can loosen them. We clean by hand and with a soft, controlled wash instead.
- How long does a roof clean and seal last?
- It depends on how shaded and exposed your roof is. A roof under trees on the north side will need attention sooner than one that gets sun and wind most of the day. We will tell you what to expect for your roof specifically.
- Do I need to be home while the work is done?
- Not necessarily, as long as we can access the roof. We will ring before we start and send photos and the price to your phone the same day.
- What if my roof actually does need replacing?
- Sometimes it does. If the timber underneath is rotten or the roof is at the end of its life, we will show you why in the photos rather than sell you a clean and seal that will not last.
- How often should a roof be cleaned?
- It depends on how shaded your roof is and how quickly moss builds up in your particular spot. Roofs under trees often need attention sooner, roofs that get more sun and wind can go longer. We can give you a realistic timeframe after a look.
- Do you repair slates as well as clean the roof?
- Yes. Slipped and cracked slates, ridge tiles, flashing and lead work around chimneys are all part of the same visit if they are needed.
- What time of year is best for roof cleaning?
- Drier weather makes the job quicker, but moss and algae can be treated through most of the year around Cork's weather, so it is not something you need to wait for.
